When a writer thinks about marketing their book, many times it can lead to nervous knots because you just don’t know where to begin. There are several options such as blogging, writing articles, book reviews, author interviews and book listing. and not to mention the involvement of social media.

There are seven main components of promoting your book on the internet:

Blogging – showcasing your experiences as a writer and sharing about the subject matter of your book while are you writing allows your readers to join in the journey with you.

Website – for an author, just like with any business, corporate or micro, you need to have a well equipped website for your potential readers to go to in order to find out about you and your book.

Guest blogging– join in different discussions on other blogs aligned with the message of your book and then email the blog host offering to write a guest blog post for their readers.

Article Marketing – submitting various articles on the topic of your book to article submission sites such as EzineArticles.com allows more people to find out about you and your book. You can bring more traffic to your author website by sharing a link back to the site or a special offer to a certain page on your site.

Interviews – requesting interviews from internet radio show hosts whose listeners would be interested in your topic is another great way to gain more potential readers and great publicity for you and your book.

Book Listings – Online there are several places such as Shelfari and Book Hitch were an author can list their books and create a community of readers. These sites are inviting places for authors to connect directly with their readers.

Social Media – Last on this list, but certainly not least, are the networks of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube to create an author platform. Start with one and you can join the others over time but being on social media is a great way to gain readers and connect with other writers and industry leaders.
